Pat Hegarty

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Pat is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who graduated from Deakin University with a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2020.

​

Pat became an Exercise Physiologist pursuing his interests in helping educate and facilitate those in need of an exercise intervention and/or lifestyle change to become healthier and more active in their life. He listens and collaborates with his clients in his practice in the aim to treat the individual rather than just the condition.

​

Pat has a strong interest in helping individuals from all walks of life and particularly those diagnosed with cancer, recovering from cardiac events and various other metabolic conditions.

Pat strives to spread his passion for exercise providing those in need with the tools, skills and most importantly the opportunity to make a positive change to their lives within the safe and welcoming environment of Geelong Rehabilitation Centre.

Pat actively promotes that exercise is medicine, continues to educate and encourage his clients to be the best “me” they can be! He values human connection and endeavours to surface positivity out of any situation.

​

Pat enjoys and plays basketball himself, however, has a strong passion for helping others return to any sport after any injury.

 

Specialities:

  • Chronic disease management: Cancer, cardiovascular & pulmonary disease and type 1 & type 2 diabetes.

  • Neurological rehabilitation: Multiple sclerosis, stroke and spinal cord injury

  • Rheumatic diseases: Rheumatoid Arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis
