We are still open during Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
GRC is still open for business during this current stage of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have modified the way we operate in accordance with GRC's policies and procedures and the World Health Organisations (WHO) recommendations in order to prevent the virus' spread. See the following link for more information https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus.
We are currently not running any exercise classes at the centre, however a number of classes are still running via the TelleHealth format. One on one Exercise Physiology and Dietetics are still conducting consultations at the centre in addition to utilising the TelleHealth format if this is preferred by the health professional or patient. No massage treatment will be conducted at the centre.
If you are experiencing any symptoms such as cough, fever, tiredness or in more severe cases difficulty breathing, please refrain from attending the centre. In addition, if you have come in contact with anyone with these symptoms or who has been diagnosed with corona virus, again please do not attend the centre. For those who do attend the centre, please assist us in making sure GRC remains virus free by cleaning down equipment after use with the cleaning products provided.
Please stay safe guys and feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
What is TeleHealth and how does it work?
With the introduction of stage 3 lockdown restrictions in Greater City of Geelong, we have been asked to modify the way we operate at GRC to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the community. As an 'essential service' we are still able to continue offering face-to-face assessments where required. However, the introduction of telehealth has provided a new way in which we can see patients and deliver specialist care directly to your living room.
Telehealth involves using an encrypted secure end-to-end online video platform to allow access to your practitioner safely from home. Similar as it would be in a normal consulting room, it provides the opportunity to discuss your condition, have an assessment, and create a management plan.

When it comes to looking after your health, it’s easy to forget about your feet. But given you could walk about 128,000 km in your lifetime, healthy feet are an important part of your overall wellbeing. Foot problems can have a huge impact on your quality of life. If they occur, podiatrists can help.
Podiatrists are tertiary qualified and are the only health care professional whose total training focuses on the foot, ankle and related body systems. Our feet are made up of 52 bones and a network of muscles, joints and ligaments. As a specialist in foot care, the podiatrist receives 4 years training in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of foot and ankle disorders. There are over 200 identified conditions that affect our feet.
Clinical Pilates offers a system of safe, effective and highly specific exercises to address your specific needs.
Programs can be tailored to treat and manage a wide range of conditions or be an integral part of enhancing fitness while assisting with injury prevention

Massage therapy is a complementary therapy which aims to treat muscles that are damaged, knotted, tense or immobile. It is useful for a number of problems that affect the muscles, tendons and bones. Massage therapy is used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and speed up the body’s own healing processes. The pressure applied in this healing treatment can either be strong and deep or gentle and shallow, depending on the problem.
Dry Needling is a valuable and effective adjunct treatment, using very thin needles which are guided deep into your muscle layers to deactivate myofascial trigger points. Dry needling works effectively through eliciting a healing response, providing immediate relief to the affected tissue. The result of needling is muscle relaxation, healing, deactivating trigger points and the associated referred pain, resulting in pain relief.
Hydrotherapy involves the use of water to treat various conditions, such as arthritis, rheumatic complaints and other ailments. Although it resembles swimming, it is different because it requires the individual to undertake different exercises in a warm pool of water. The water temperature in the pool is approximately 33–36ºC. This water is much warmer than what you will encounter in a normal swimming pool.
GRC understands the importance of fitting in with your busy schedule, the burden associated with travel time, car parking and making appointments. That’s why we bring our Exercise Physiology services into your home to help overcome some of the challenges our older and less mobile patients face. Our Exercise Physiologists will help you or your loved one to remain independent and get the most out of life.

"Thanks to the coaching, care and encouragement, I was able to enjoy my recent holiday so much more than I would have 12 months ago. My fitness and ability to walk have improved enormously and my weight has gone down by 21kg. This makes everyday life and holidays so much more enjoyable, and allows me to hope for more improvement in the future. Thanks James!"
"Recovery is much easier when you are supported. The team at GRC are always dedicated to me, providing constant guidance and support. Previous to GRC I was lost in relation to my rehabilitation and was not progressing to my desired goals. Thanks GRC!"
"My journey to better health has just begun, after a T2D diagnosis snapped me into action. GRC (& Adam) have been fabulous with designing an exercise program to suit me. Super supportive and encouraging! Highly recommend!"
"Today I had my 6-week post-operative review after a Total Hip Replacement, and got a clean bill of health, and permission to do all normal things that a hip is called for! Yah! While I had an excellent surgeon in Ben Miller, his skills have been so well supported by the work that GRC has done on me over many months leading up to the operation. James and his team have simply been wonderful in sharing their expertise and knowledge to create the best scenario they could leading into and preparing for the operation, and James in particular scores a huge gold star for his gentle care during the last six weeks of post-operative rehab. Now, he has updated my program and challenges me to get up and moving again. Overall, the highest recommendation to the whole team. Thanks everyone!"
